mark and a tree

Mark Curry is a well established television presenteractor and broadcaster, who has been seen and heard in a wide variety of shows on TV, Radio and on stage since 1969.

Mark was born on 27th August, 1961 at Drake Hall, Staffordshire, and is the youngest of three children. His father, Arthur, was a prison officer and his mother, Lily, a maternity nurse. There is no showbiz in the family at all! He grew up in a mining village in West Yorkshire and was lucky that his mum became friends with a showbiz couple who ran the local pub. They knew what to do with this 7 year old kid who couldn’t stop singing, dancing, doing impressions and dressing up and got him an audition for Jess Yates, the Executive Producer of a children’s television variety show, “Junior Showtime”, recorded at Yorkshire Television in Leeds. Mark appeared on this show for the next six years and loved every minute.

During this time he appeared in the classic Alan Parker film, “Bugsy Malone”, playing, “Oscar”, the producer and performed in pantomimes and summer variety shows. School was an annoying distraction for Mark, all he wanted was to be on stage or in front of a camera and nothing much has changed since then!

Mark left Leeds for Manchester when he got the chance to present Saturday morning live TV shows for the BBC and then moved to London when he was invited to present, “Blue Peter”, in the late 1980’s. His theatre work has taken him all over the UK and to the West End of London.

Tennis is Mark’s big passion. He has a coaching qualification and loves playing and commentating whenever he gets the chance.

Mark studied for a Diploma in Life Coaching and qualified in January 2014.
